South Canterbury Finance to Hold Public Information Meetings
South Canterbury Finance Chief Executive Sandy Maier and his management team are inviting investors to a series of public meetings to answer their questions about the business.
“It’s quite an unusual step, I think, but South Canterbury isn’t an average business,” says Mr Maier. “Our President for Life Allan Hubbard founded the company based on a very personal touch and recent feedback from our investors indicates that they’d like to see this approach continue."
“We’ve also seen plenty of media coverage about the business and we’ve been very busy making changes to put the business back in good shape. We’ve made progress on many fronts and that’s raised questions for both current investors and those who may have left us, as well as new or potential investors in South Canterbury."
“Many of our investors have been very loyal and many others continue to show a great deal of interest. This will be an opportunity to meet with our investors and answer their questions or concerns face-to-face.”
Public meetings are scheduled for Christchurch, Invercargill and Dunedin this week with a schedule also being finalised for Timaru, Ashburton, Wellington and Auckland next week. Public meetings in other centres would also be scheduled in the near future.
Mr Maier says call centre and other staff were fielding many questions about the company’s structure and future, its progress with various funding streams, the ongoing role for former chairman and founder Allan Hubbard, the impact of the S&P rating and the Crown’s retail deposit guarantee.
“We’ll be available to answer questions on all of those areas of the business. Our early focus for these meetings is deliberately in the lower half of the South Island as that is the traditional home of South Canterbury and the values of the people in those areas are at the core of the way the company was originally built and will continue to run.”
